Lost in My Library

I always end up buying a bunch of books at the beginning of summer. It doesn't matter that my preexisting TBR was over 20 books, which, when combined with going to the library far too often, is more than enough to keep me busy. It's a leftover habit from when I was a small child, and *gasp* didn't have a TBR at all times . I needed to have new books because I'd suddenly have lots more time and not enough to read. This book-buying spree was a bit bigger than normal, because I went to Barnes & Noble, and Amazon, AND a used bookstore, so in total, I got 26 books in the span of of about 4 days. I think that's a new record. I haven't done a book haul since January. And since then, my library bookstore h ad a sale, I've been to Barnes & Noble a few times, and my birthday happened...s o, as y ou can imagine, I have quite a few new books to show you. So I'm gonna skip the bi g intro and get straig ht to the books.   The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt by Edmund Morris: I already own the second part of this three-volume biography, Theodore Rex , so I was thrilled to find this for just a couple of dollars in the library bookstore! I'm going to wait until summer to read this, since I want to spend so me ti me with it . I hope I can find the thi rd volume soon! Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen: After reading Persuasion and Pride & Prejudice a couple of summers ago, I'm really excited to read more Jane Austen. It feels like forever since I've done a library haul. And it kind of has been. I had no library haul in April, and only a mini one in March, because I may have gotten a few too many books at once and been unable to read all of them quickly. So I've learned my lesson. I only got nine books this time! Ahem. So may be I could have gotten fewer books and been more sure that yes, I can read them all before they're d ue . But I just saw them on the shel f, and so many of them are on es I've been looking forward to for so long , and school's a lot less busy now...so I got nine. I've had less self-control than this. I already had way too many books checked out from the library this month, so I wasn't going to get any more. There were a few that were due, though, so I had to go back, and I really wasn't planning on getting any books when I went but we all know where this is going, don't we. The good news is that I got only four books! That seems manageable! Even if I did already have a dozen out and all the ones I got are at least 500 pages each. I'll get to them soon. I managed to visit the library twice this month! And considering that I haven't even finished my January books yet...I got WAY too many books. But they all looked so good that I just had to get them all! I got six books on the first trip and eleven on the second. It turns out that, entirely without planning, all of the books I got on that second t rip were historical fiction, so I'm very much looking forward to diving into those.
