New Year's Resolutions Tag

It's not really New Year's time anymore. Kind of close, but we're almost two whole weeks into 2018 by now, and most resolutions have either been set in stone or broken by now. (Don't ask me for data to back up that assertion, I don't have it.) But now is when I'm going to do New Year's stuff on this blog, because my laptop literally broke on New Year's Day and I haven't gotten a new one yet. It's on its way, but it's gonna take a little while longer, which means I can't just be working on my blog all day every day.  So, without further ado, here's my version of the New Year's resolutions tag, which I found here , a bit late but with all the best intentions.   1. An author you'd like to read that you've never read before I really want to read something by Roshani Chokshi! THE STAR-TOUCHED QUEEN has been on my TBR for ages , and ARU SHAH AND THE END OF TIME is coming out this year! I'll be pretty disappointe...

2017 Reading Goals and Challenges

Welcome back to my week of 2016 wrap-up posts! The year isn't quite over yet (unfortunately), but it's already time to start looking ahead and planning for next year! I think I've spent more time planning next year's reading than I have for any other year - side effects of blogging, I guess! This post is basically the sum of all of those reading resolutions - personal goals and more organized challenges. 1) Read at least a little bit every day. One of the weirdest things about my reading habits since I got to college is that the time I spend reading each day varies greatly. I can go from finishing a book in a day to not reading for fun for two weeks, which is really weird for me. I want to make an effort to always be reading something, even if I only get through 3 pages a day. 2) Read more books by authors of color. I talk a lot about how I want to read more diversely, but looking back at the books I read over the year, I was unpleasantly surprised to find t...

Regarding My Goodreads Reading Challenge

This year, I set my Goodreads reading goal for 100 books. I know that that's a very respectable goal, and that many people aim for that many books as a reach. However, it still feels like a step back for me. The last time I set my goal for 100 books was in 2013, and since then, my goals have been significantly more ambitious. So why the giant step back? I have a number of reasons, most of which go back to the fact that I have no idea how this year is going to go. I don't want to have to lower my reading challenge again - in 2015, I originally set it to 200 books, but I figured out pretty quickly that that wasn't going to happen. I kne w it was a long shot, but I was still disappointed. The biggest reason that this year is a giant mystery is that I'm starting college this fall. That's still a bit of a scary thought, and while I am looking forward to it, I'm apprehensive because I don't know how much time I'm going to have for leisure reading. My...
