What's On My Netgalley Shelf?

One of the worst parts of my extended reading slump is that I just get more and more behind on my NetGalley review copies. I haven't been fully caught up since last summer. I've done a bit better - I got through all of the ones that had June 2018 publication dates, and posted reviews for them here - but there are still a lot that I need to get to! I'm posting this as a way to hold myself accountable. I fully expect all of these books to, at the very least, be on the list of books I read in 2018. I might not be posting full reviews here for the ones that were published a while ago, but I'll definitely be reviewing them on Goodreads! Here are the ten that I need to get to: Which of these books should I read first? Tell me in the comments!

Ten Series I've Been Meaning to Start

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature at The Broke and the Bookish . This week's theme: Top Ten Series I've Been Meaning to Start But Haven't. Well, that was a totally accidental two-week blog hiatus. Whoops! But I'm back! Hopefully more regularly...again. Anyway, this week's theme was really fun! I think we all have those series that have been sitting on our lists for far too long. Because starting a series is a commitment! If you like it, you're in for the long haul! And then that's essentially more books on your TBR, so basically you read a book and the result is you add more books to your TBR and that's not productive at all so why bother? But they're worth it in the end. Here are ten series I should really start sometime soon. MARA DYER by Michelle Hodkin: I think I'm the last person to read this series. I've heard kind of mixed things about the ending, so I've adjusted my expectations appropriately, but I still re...

Nonfiction I Want to Read

One of my goals for 2017 is to read more nonfiction. Actually, one of my goals for every year is to read more nonfiction. I'll admit that I haven't been off to a great start - I've finished a grand total of zero nonfiction books since September - but to be fair, I've been doing a lot of required nonfiction readings for class. But I don't want that to stop me from extra reading! I want to be a history or American Studies major, so a lot of the nonfiction that I want to read is history. But there are a few that aren't! Here's a (by no means complete) list of my top priority nonfiction TBR. ROARING CAMP by Susan Lee Johnson: A couple of days ago in my history lecture, my professor briefly went over the complexities of race relations in California in the time of westward expansion. I was really intrigued - I'm from California, so I'd learned a lot about that time in elementary school, but those kinds of things were definitely glossed ov...

Ten Books I've Added to My TBR Lately

Top Ten Tues da y is a weekly feature at The Broke and the Bookish . This week's theme: Top Ten Books You've Added to Y our TBR Recently. I have a bit of a problem with my TBR, and that problem is that I just can't seem to stop adding books to my TBR! I see a book, and I think "wow, that looks interesting! I should read it at some point." And then suddenly my TBR is over 800 books long and I'll literally never get through it but I don't know what to do because they all look so interesting . It's gotten a lot worse lately, because I'm not reading as much as I used to now that I'm in college. I'm not adding more books to my TBR than I usually do, but I'm getting rid of them much more slowly. Here are some of the latest culprits - not the ten books I've added most recently, but I've added all of these in the past month or so, and they look AMAZING. ALEX AND ELIZA: A LOVE STORY by Melissa de la Cruz: I LOVE Hamilton. ...
