Top Nine Books of 2018

I got quite a bit behind in my reading in 2018. I only managed to finish my reading challenge by reading a lot of picture books and comics (most of which I would have read anyway, but maybe not all at once). So it's not surprising that I didn't add ten books to my all-time favorites list. It's not the first time that's happened, and I still have a pretty solid list. I don't love that this is a top 9 list instead of a top 10 list, but I guess that's just how things worked out! These nine books, though, were incredible. I am so happy that I read them all, and I think that these made it a really great reading year. It's an interesting assortment of books, and most of them are ones that I have strong feelings about that I struggle to put into words, so prepare for me to say mostly "it was GREAT PLEASE READ IT." Honorable mentions: other books that I gave 5 stars to this year (alphabetical order) Children of Blood and Bone - The Day the Cra...

Top Ten Prettiest Covers of 2017

This list is part of the Top 10 of 2017 event at Kimberlyfaye Reads, which I unfortunately didn't find out about soon enough to participate in the rest of! Today's theme is cover love; tomorrow is top ten books of the year, which I already posted about here , and the next day is most-anticipated 2018 books, which I miiiight be able to pull something together for. I'm usually pretty good at not judging a book by its cover. There are a ton of covers out there that I just don't feel that strongly about one way or the other. But sometimes, a cover is too pretty to not notice it. Here are my top 10 covers of 2017 releases! (I haven't yet read all of these, but they're all at least on my TBR.) The books: RETRIBUTION RAILS by Erin Bowman (Vengeance Road #2), INTO THE BRIGHT UNKNOWN by Rae Carson (Gold Seer Trilogy #3), THE NOWHERE GIRLS by Amy Reed, THE LANGUAGE OF THORNS by Leigh Bardugo, THE PEARL THIEF by Elizabeth Wein (Code Name Verity prequel...

Top Ten Favorite Books of 2017

So, I haven't posted since the beginning of the month, because finals totally destroyed me. But I'm here now! And for the gazillionth time in four months, I'm saying that I'm gonna get back onto a normal posting schedule. But for now, I have plenty of things to post this week since it's one of my favorite times of year - wrapping things up at the very end! Yes, it's nearly the end of 2017. And personally, I will not be sorry about kissing this year goodbye. I've had a pretty good reading year, and not a bad personal year! But 2017 as a global phenomenon has not been great, and I don't think I'm alone in that sentiment. It's made me really want to focus on the good this year, especially in the form of books! So without further ado, here are my top ten books I read this year. 10. LADY MIDNIGHT by Cassandra Clare (The Dark Artifices #1): Based on all the other Cassandra Clare books I've read, I was in no way expecting this to make it on...

End-Of-Year Book Tag

What better way to slowly get back into the swing of book blogging than with a tag? I've noticed that there are some people who don't really like doing tags that much, but I think they're really fun, and it's my blog, so here we go. There's something so nice about the feeling of wrapping things up at the end of the year. Granted, it's a bit early to exactly do that, since we still have a month and a half left of 2017, but it's the start of that! And I found this great book tag started (I think) by Ariel Bissett over on YouTube that's a great transition into the end of the year.   1) Are there any books you've started this year that you need to finish? *glances at currently reading shelf* Let's not pay a lot of attention to how many books I've put down in the middle and not picked up yet, and how few of those I actually started this year. The three that I started in the past few months that I'd really like to finish before the en...

End-Of-Year Book Survey 2016

Welcome back to my week of 2016 wrap-up posts! Today I 'm doing the end-of-year book sur vey created by Jamie @ Perpet ual Page Turner , which I saw last year and unfortunately didn't have time to fill out. But I'm doing it this year ! (All of the graphics are Jamie's , too - they were so beautif ul that I didn't want to create anything different!) 2016 may have been an absolute garbage fire in pretty much all respects, but it was a good year for me reading - and blogging-wise. Lo oking back at what I've read and what I've done, I'm really happy with it all. I'll be answering this surve y with the books that I read in 2016, regardless of p u bli cation year . Honestly, I don't think I read enough 2016 books to really fill out this survey well just sticking to them!    Number of Books You Read: 159 , not including rereads. (This might go up to 160 if I finish one that I'm in the middle of right now.) Number of Re-Reads: 21 (...
