What's On My Netgalley Shelf?

One of the worst parts of my extended reading slump is that I just get more and more behind on my NetGalley review copies. I haven't been fully caught up since last summer. I've done a bit better - I got through all of the ones that had June 2018 publication dates, and posted reviews for them here - but there are still a lot that I need to get to!

I'm posting this as a way to hold myself accountable. I fully expect all of these books to, at the very least, be on the list of books I read in 2018. I might not be posting full reviews here for the ones that were published a while ago, but I'll definitely be reviewing them on Goodreads! Here are the ten that I need to get to:

    Oof! I don’t even want to think about my netgalley right now 🙈 I also have there’s someone inside your house on mine though! I think it could be an easy one to knock out seeing as it’s a short thriller.

      I'm really glad that a lot of the books on my shelf are short! And now that it's about to be fall I'm in the mood for thrillers again...might be time to knock that one out!

    I Stop Somewhere was really emotional and painful, and also, very good. I liked More Than We Can Tell. Not as much as the first book, but I loved learning more about Rev. I am reading See All the Stars this week, so I am hoping it's good.

Thoughts on Required Reading

This blog post is brought to you by Pride and Prejudice and my AP Lit class. I've been thinking a lot about required reading, probably because I'm having to do so much of it. School comes with many types of required reading. Today, I won't be talking about reading excerpts from textbooks on various subjects, because I think everyone agrees that unless the subject is of particular interest, those readings are boring at best and painful at worst. Instead, I'm talking about being required to read entire works of literature (or, less often, nonfiction). During winter break this year, I was required to read Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice . I thought that this would be one of my easiest assignments ever. I LOVE that book. I read it for fun two summers ago and could barely put it down! I was expecting wonderful days curled up on the couch with a mug of hot chocolate, enjoying the chance to revisit one of my favorite novels while still being productive. Best of all...

Ten Books I Need More People to Love

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature at The Broke and Bookish. This week's theme: Top Ten Underrated/Hidden Gem Books You've Read in the Past Year or So. One of my favorite things to do is get other people to read books I love.
