Top Ten 2017 Debuts I'm Excited For

Happy new year, everyone! I love New Year's - there's just something so wonderful about the idea of a fresh start. (Especially after 2016.) I have a feeling that 2017 is going to be a great year here at Lost in My Library.

In a completely unrelated celebration, this is my 100th post! This somehow feels a lot more tangible than my blogoversary last week, but it's just as unbelievable to me.

It turns out that out of all of the 2017 books I'm excited for, there aren't a ton of debuts. There are a lot of books by authors I haven't read before, but a bunch of those are actually the author's second or third book. But there are enough debuts that I'm pretty excited for everything on this list. Almost all of these will be published in the first half of the year, which I'm a little surprised at - I guess it's just because I know more about those books.
WAIT FOR ME by Caroline Leech (January 31): I love historical fiction, and I especially can't get enough of World War II books. And I don't think I've read any set in Scotland before! (At least not entirely.)

CARAVAL by Stephanie Garber (January 31): I've heard so many amazing things about this book, and I can't wait to get my hands on it! This isn't one that I would make a priority based on premise alone, but you know me, I cave in to the hype.

THE HATE U GIVE by Angie Thomas (February 28): This is the book on this list that also made it onto my overall most anticipated reads for the first half of 2017. I've heard such good things, and it's about such an important topic. I'm so excited to read it!

YOU'RE WELCOME, UNIVERSE by Whitney Gardner (March 7): I hadn't heard of this book until a few days ago, but it has such an intriguing premise that I knew I had to read it. Diversity and a graffiti war - yes. And look at that cover!

GIRL OUT OF WATER by Laura Silverman (May 1): I actually have an eARC of this one from NetGalley and I'm really excited to get to it! I have a few other books I need to read first, but I'll be getting to this one soon.

AND WE'RE OFF by Dana Schwartz (May 2): I love contemporaries that have to do with traveling, and this sounds like such an interesting one! I also really like books about art (from what I've read, which isn't a lot), and this has that, too!

COLD SUMMER by Gwen Cole (May 2): This looks like such a unique idea! I love books that are told in two different time frames at once, and this one has an interesting twist on that idea.

THE LOVE INTEREST by Cale Dietrich (May 16): There is nothing about this premise that I don't like. Taking tropes and flipping them on their head, spies (of a sort), LGBT+ romance...basically, I NEED this.

WHEN DIMPLE MET RISHI by Sandhya Menon (May 30): Every time I think about this book, I'm more excited for it. I read the first few chapters here and they just made me even more sure that I'm going to love this book!

DEAR MARTIN by Nic Stone (October 17): This one doesn't even have a cover yet (though I've heard one is coming soon! - and also, I have no idea what happened to the text on that placeholder cover), but I've had my eye on it for quite a while. I can't describe it any better than the Goodreads description, so I'd highly recommend reading that - and adding this book to your most-anticipated lists.

What are some of your most anticipated 2017 debuts? Any great ones that I've missed? Have I convinced you to look out for any of these? Tell me in the comments!

    1. YES. With us having basically the same bookish tastes, I think we're both going to end up reading a bunch of these this year.

I basically have all these added and I'm so excited in particular for the Love Interest, Caraval, and Dear Martin!! I feel like The Hate U Give is going to be marvellous but omg is it just one of the most hyped books of all time or what?!? I very much hope it lives up to expectations.😍

    1. Those all look like they're going to be so great! I don't usually end up reading a lot of debuts in their publication year - I'm really not sure why - but I'd be very surprised if I didn't get to most of these.

  4. Caraval was amazing! I was kind of nervous when I started it due to the hype, but it didn't disappoint! The Hate U Give is going to be amazing, I already know it. I forgot about this book when discussing my top ten for the first half *cries* even though it's one of my most anticipated for the whole year. I've never heard of Wait for Me, but it sounds really good. I can't wait for Cold Summer as well!

    1. I'm so glad you liked Caraval! And I really hope The Hate U Give is amazing. I know they've released the first few chapters to get people even more excited for release, but I just can't make myself read them because then I'll be even more desperate for the end of February!

  6. I've heard so much hype about Caraval too! I need to look up what it's actually about haha. I'm looking forward to The Hate U Give and The Love Interests as well. I'm always really bad at keeping up with new releases though. I'm pretty sure I read none of my most anticipated in 2016. XD Also, congrats on 100th posts, Clara! Here's to hitting more milestones in the future!

    1. I'm still not entirely sure what Caraval is about - I know I've read the Goodreads summary like 4 times, but the only things that really stick in my head are that it's about sisters and some kind of game. I guess I'll just go in blind! I didn't make a full list of anticipated books for last year, but I'm sure I missed a ton that I'll just have to get to this year!

  8. Now, I thought I had a good idea of a lot of the debuts coming out this year but you've shown me I've missed a couple. Love Interests sounds like so much fun! Who doesn't love a book about spies, I really don't need to know anymore detail than that. And Cold SUmmer sounds like something I would definitely be interested in reading. I'm off to add to my ever expanding TBR list now.

    1. I'm so glad that I could show you some new books! I'm really excited for all of these. And I totally get the ever-expanding TBR part. I'm always a bit scared for posts like this because I know I'll see other people's lists and my TBR will get SO MUCH LONGER!

Most Anticipated Reads: First Half of 2017

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature at The Broke a nd the Bookish . This week's theme : most an ti cipated reads for the first half of 2017. Wow, it's been ages since I've done a most anticipated list! In case you were wondering, my excitement for upcoming books is a s high as ever. It was so hard narrowing this list down to just ten, but I think I figured out the ten books that I'm most excited for in the first half of next year! I have a good mix of sequels and standalones (but onl y one debut, so there won't b e a lo t of overlap wi th the de buts TTT in a few weeks). Here are some of the books that I just can't contain my excitement about : OUR OWN PRIVATE UNIVERSE by Robin Talley - January 31: I love Robin Talley, and this book sounds like it's going to be so good! And it's going to have so much intersectionality! And the colors on that cover are just so aesthetically pleasing. DREAMLAND BURNING by Jennifer Latham - February

Ten Books I Need More People to Love

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature at The Broke and Bookish. This week's theme: Top Ten Underrated/Hidden Gem Books You've Read in the Past Year or So. One of my favorite things to do is get other people to read books I love. That way, I can discuss the boo ks with them, and if I know their tastes well enough, I know I'm givin g them something that they'll love! Unfortunately, I can't do this with the entire world. And that means that there are books that I've really enjoyed t hat just aren't widely loved. Why ? I don't know. And that's why I spend so much time trying to get other people to read them. Here are ten books I've read some what recently that I think really deserve some m ore lo ve. IRON CAST by Destiny Soria: I'll never get tired of diverse books, I 'll never get tired of historical fiction, and I'll never get tired of positive female friendships. My Top Ten Books of 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly f eature at The Broke and the Bookish . This week's theme: top ten books of 2016. A little less than a year ago, I started my blog by making a post of my top 10 favorite books of 2015 . And now here we are again! I've come so far in blogging , and it 's really amazing to be creating the same kind of post as my fi rst one again - but I'l l save the nostalgia for my blogo versary post later this week. Last year, all of the books on my list were also on my all-time favorites list. I didn't quite read ten all-time favorites this year, so I added a couple of five-star but not-quite-favorite books to this post. I also didn't include any rereads on this list - I reread quite a few favorite books this year, and that wouldn't be fair to the rest! But anyway, here are my ten favorite books that I read in 2016. 10. THUD! by Terry Pratchett (Discworld #34) I don't think it would really be a list of my favorite books from a ye
